BEEN INJURED?
If you have just been involved in an automobile accident, obviously it is important to immediately seek medical attention. Be as frank as you can with any investigating police officers. It is best that you not discuss the manner in which the accident occurred with the other driver, but certainly listen carefully if the other driver volunteers information to you as to what has occurred. If you are able, attempt to secure any witnesses at the scene until the police have arrived and have been informed of these witnesses.
It is always a good idea if you are injured to see your physician or emergency room physician for a check-up.
Be sure to contact your legal representative as soon as possible, since prompt investigation of the nature of the accident may be essential. Our office will help you report your claim to your insurance carrier. Many insurance carriers require prompt reporting of the accident.
When you come to our office, be sure to bring with you your entire automobile insurance policy, any and all documents or papers or cards given to you by the investigating police officer, as well as any and all records and/or forms handed to you by the hospital staff upon your discharge. In addition, any photos taken of the scene or of injuries can be helpful. If you are hospitalized or otherwise incapacitated, we will make arrangements to meet with you at your location. I recommend that our clients do not discuss their case with their insurance carrier until they have secured legal representation.
